Pasta Kamali

My grandmother Kamali is a very innovative cook. She would try out new, new recipes. Her pasta is  very, very famous in our family. When we were children, there used to be a very nice shop close to our house in Coimbatore in R.S. Puram area called the Ideal Stores. This shop used to have exotic stuff. My grandmother would get Spaghetti and make it for all of us. I am very happy to share her recipe. We still love this pasta. Thank you Kamali Ma. A very simple, very tasty pasta with very few ingredients.


Since I did not have spaghetti at home I have used Fettuccine pasta.

Fettucine pasta – 1 big handful ( cooked al dente )

Salt to taste

To Season

Sunflower oil – 3 tablespoons

Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

Finely chopped green chillies – 3

To Garnish

Grated Amul cheese – 1 handful

Pasta Kamali Served With Hot Pan Fried Garlic Buns


Heat a big pan. Season. Keep the flame on sim. Add the cooked fettuccine pasta and salt to taste. Mix very gently so as to not to break the pasta. Keep on sim flame for 3  minutes. Switch off the stove. Garnish and serve hot with garlic buns.

Chef’s Tips

1) Can use any pasta of your choice.

2) Pasta Kamali is best when served with garlic buns, salad and a bowl of piping hot Soup. Makes a great meal.
